Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A folio of various pencil and watercolour studies including caricatures and cartoons, some dated April 1891 (one illustrated) by George Denholm Armour was auctioned at Christies in London in October 2006, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 200.00 – 300.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 180.00 (€ 268.94). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Denholm Armour achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Lion and Lioness at Rest in October 2008 with an auction result of USD 30,000.00 (€ 23,655.57).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit A folio of various pencil and watercolour studies including caricatures and cartoons, some dated April 1891 (one illustrated) von George Denholm Armour im Oktober 2006 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 200,00 – 300,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 180,00 (€ 268,94) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von George Denholm Armour erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Lion and Lioness at Rest im Oktober 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 30.000,00 (€ 23.655,57).
