Auction result well in line with expectations
In May last year Sothebys in London held the auction The Library of Henry Rogers Broughton, 2nd Baron Fairhaven Part I, which included the work The Horticultural Repository, 1823, 2 volumes by George Brookshaw. The price achieved of GBP 2,142.00 (€ 2,519.86) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,500.00 – 2,500.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by George Brookshaw - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Four Handcolored Aquatints From: Pomonica Britannica, A Collection Of The Most Esteemed Fruits, which sold at auction in January 2001 for USD 4,935.00 (€ 5,301.89).
