Auction result misses estimated price range
In July 2013 a collector was able to acquire the work Horses and a foal in an extensive landscape by George Barret for GBP 3,750.00 (€ 4,285.03). This price was achieved in the auction Old Master & British Drawings & Watercolours at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Barret achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A wooded river landscape with a man fishing in the foreground, a shepherd playing a flute beside a flock of sheep and a town beyond; and A wooded river landscape with fishermen in a boat, a ruined building beyond and figures crossing a bridge in December 2010 with an auction result of GBP 481,250.00 (€ 558,248.55).
