In May 2007 Christies in London held the auction The Irish Sale, which included the work Mountainous wooded river landscape, with figures and goats on a track in the foreground, and a mill beyond by George Barret. The price achieved of GBP 276,000.00 (€ 406,152.68) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 250,000.00 – 350,000.00. Other works by George Barret have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in December 2010 the work A wooded river landscape with a man fishing in the foreground, a shepherd playing a flute beside a flock of sheep and a town beyond; and A wooded river landscape with fishermen in a boat, a ruined building beyond and figures crossing a bridge was auctioned for GBP 481,250.00 (€ 558,248.55).
