This artwork by George Barret achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in July 2011. In the Old Master & Early British Drawings & Watercolours auction, the work A mother and children resting beneath a large beech tree, deer grazing beyond, possibly in Norbury Park, Surrey sold for GBP 39,650.00 (€ 45,504.31) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 20,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Barret achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A wooded river landscape with a man fishing in the foreground, a shepherd playing a flute beside a flock of sheep and a town beyond; and A wooded river landscape with fishermen in a boat, a ruined building beyond and figures crossing a bridge in December 2010 with an auction result of GBP 481,250.00 (€ 558,248.55).

Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A wooded river landscape with a man fishing in the foreground, a shepherd playing a flute beside a flock of sheep and a town beyond; and A wooded river landscape with fishermen in a boat, a ruined building beyond and figures crossing a bridge im Dezember 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 481.250,00 (€ 558.248,55).
