In December 2011 Christies in London held the auction Old Master & British Paintings (Day Sale), which included the work An Italianate river landscape with ruins, anglers on a bank by George Barret. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 21,250.00 (€ 25,449.88), 42% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Barret achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A wooded river landscape with a man fishing in the foreground, a shepherd playing a flute beside a flock of sheep and a town beyond; and A wooded river landscape with fishermen in a boat, a ruined building beyond and figures crossing a bridge in December 2010 with an auction result of GBP 481,250.00 (€ 558,248.55).

Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A wooded river landscape with a man fishing in the foreground, a shepherd playing a flute beside a flock of sheep and a town beyond; and A wooded river landscape with fishermen in a boat, a ruined building beyond and figures crossing a bridge im Dezember 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 481.250,00 (€ 558.248,55).
