Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Leda and the Swan, surrounded by flora and fauna including a Stargazer Lily (Lilium 'Stargazer'), a Common Lizard (Lacerta vivipara), a Common Pear (Pyrus communis), a stem of Pinks (Dianthus caryophyllus), a Chater Beetle (?) (Cetonia aurata), a Moo by Joris Hoefnagel was auctioned at Christies in New York in January 2007. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 150,000.00 – 250,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 156,000.00 (€ 120,018.46) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Joris Hoefnagel have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A village festival with elegantly dressed figures in procession, a river and tower beyond in December 2012 with an auction result of GBP 481,250.00 (€ 593,514.90).

(Cetonia aurata), a Moo von Joris Hoefnagel kam im Januar 2007 bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 150.000,00 – 250.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 156.000,00 (€ 120.018,46) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Joris Hoefnagel auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A village festival with elegantly dressed figures in procession, a river and tower beyond im Dezember 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 481.250,00 (€ 593.514,90).
