Auction result well in line with expectations

The work Portrait of Luise, Duchess of Mecklenburg-Schwerin (1756-1808), small bust length, wearing a light blue dress with lace chemise, earrings and bonnet set with precious stones - a fragment by Georg David Matthieu was sold in the PICTURES WATERCOLOURS DRAWINGS AND COPIES AFTER OLD MASTERS auction at Christies in Amsterdam in September 2000. The price achieved of NLG 2,925.50 (€ 1,348.37) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as NLG 2,500.00 – 3,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Georg David Matthieu achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Prince Friedrich-Franz I zu Mecklenburg-Schwerin (1756-1785), small full-length, in an embroidered green suit, at his studies in May 2000 with an auction result of USD 64,625.00 (€ 69,280.66).

Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen

Die Arbeit Portrait of Luise, Duchess of Mecklenburg-Schwerin (1756-1808), small bust length, wearing a light blue dress with lace chemise, earrings and bonnet set with precious stones - a fragment von Georg David Matthieu wurde im September 2000 in der Auktion PICTURES WATERCOLOURS DRAWINGS AND COPIES AFTER OLD MASTERS bei Christies in Amsterdam versteigert.
