This artwork by Gene Davis achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in New York in May last year. In the Post-War & Contemporary Art auction, the work without title sold for USD 113,775.00 (€ 106,024.60) - well above the upper estimate of USD 60,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Gene Davis; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Legato In Red sold at auction in September 2019 with the realized price of USD 187,500.00 (€ 171,939.48).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 90 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Gene Davis erzielte im Mai letzten Jahres bei Bonhams in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Post-War & Contemporary Art wurde diese Arbeit ohne Titel für USD 113.775,00 (€ 106.024,60) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 60.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Gene Davis; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Legato In Red im September 2019 mit dem Hammerpreis von USD 187.500,00 (€ 171.939,48).
