In May 2000 Christies in Los Angeles held the auction California, Western and American Paintings, which included the work Rising Mist by Gary Lang. The »bidding war« ended at USD 4,112.50 (€ 4,408.77), 18% above the upper estimate. Other works by Gary Lang have achieved even higher prices, we observed the highest auction result so far of USD 4,700.00 (€ 5,538.53) in October 2000 for the work Lake Poway.
