A top price for Fukuyama Yoshitoyo
In March 2003 Christies in New York held the auction AN IMPORTANT COLLECTION OF JAPANESE PRINTS, which included the work Amerikajin kodomo choai no zu (Picture of a beloved American child) by Fukuyama Yoshitoyo. The »bidding war« ended at USD 4,780.00 (€ 4,385.32), 37% above the upper estimate. With this result, Amerikajin kodomo choai no zu (Picture of a beloved American child) is even the most expensive work of art by Fukuyama Yoshitoyo that we have observed at auctions so far.
