Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Personal Letter, late 1950s to early 1960s by Fu Baoshi was auctioned at Bonhams in Sydney in December this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of AUD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for AUD 1,476.00 (€ 911.06). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Fu Baoshi achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Beauty in April this year with an auction result of HKD 16,764,000.00 (€ 17,119,323.91).
