Auction result well in line with expectations
The work "A French Bark entering the Harbour of Havana, the Morro Castle to the left" by Fritz Melbye was auctioned at Christies in London in October 2019. The price achieved of GBP 11,875.00 (€ 13,774.15) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Fritz Melbye - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Cruz Bay; Cinnamon Bay, Danish West Indies (U.S. Virgin Islands), which sold at auction in May 2012 for USD 60,000.00 (€ 48,527.98).

Die Arbeit "A French Bark entering the Harbour of Havana, the Morro Castle to the left" von Fritz Melbye kam im Oktober 2019 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 11.875,00 (€ 13.774,15) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Fritz Melbye mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Cruz Bay; Cinnamon Bay, Danish West Indies (U.S. Virgin Islands) beobachtet, die im Mai 2012 für USD 60.000,00 (€ 48.527,98) versteigert wurde.
