This artwork by Frederick Schafer achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in Los Angeles in October 2020. In the California and Western Art40th Anniversary Auction auction, the work The Bridalveil Fall and El Capitan in the Yosemite Valley sold for USD 21,325.00 (€ 18,309.44) - well above the upper estimate of USD 12,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Frederick Schafer; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Indians on the Warpath sold at auction in November 2011 with the realized price of USD 32,500.00 (€ 24,158.18).
