In December 2009 Sothebys in London held the auction Victorian & Edwardian Art, which included the work The Rock Of Gibraltar by Frederick Richard Lee. The price achieved of GBP 44,450.00 (€ 50,141.16) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 30,000.00 – 50,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, The Rock Of Gibraltar is the most expensive artwork by Frederick Richard Lee that we have observed at auctions so far.
