In April 2012 Sothebys in New York held the auction American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture, which included the work Breaking Waves by Frederick Judd Waugh. The »bidding war« ended at USD 17,500.00 (€ 13,228.51), 46% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Frederick Judd Waugh - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Surf And Fog; Monhegan Maine, which sold at auction in October 2016 for USD 50,000.00 (€ 45,612.11).

Im April 2012 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture durch, in der auch die Arbeit Breaking Waves von Frederick Judd Waugh zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 17.500,00 (€ 13.228,51) und damit 46% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Frederick Judd Waugh mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Surf And Fog; Monhegan Maine beobachtet, die im Oktober 2016 für USD 50.000,00 (€ 45.612,11) versteigert wurde.
