In October 2006 Christies in London held the auction British and Continental Watercolours, which included the work Near Holywell Bay, Newquay by Frederick John Widgery. The result of GBP 600.00 (€ 896.45) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 600.00 – 800.00. Admittedly, works by Frederick John Widgery have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work River Dart; and Yalmpton Creek, Dart (illustrated) in September 2005 with an auction result of GBP 4,560.00 (€ 6,692.13).

Im Oktober 2006 führte Christies in London die Auktion British and Continental Watercolours durch, in der auch die Arbeit Near Holywell Bay, Newquay von Frederick John Widgery zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von GBP 600,00 (€ 896,45) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 600,00 – 800,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Frederick John Widgery auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit River Dart; and Yalmpton Creek, Dart (illustrated) im September 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 4.560,00 (€ 6.692,13).
