Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Dunkery Beacon from the Doone Valley, Exmoor by Frederick John Widgery was auctioned at Christies in London in August 2011. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 600.00 – 800.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 625.00 (€ 705.83) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Frederick John Widgery have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work River Dart; and Yalmpton Creek, Dart (illustrated) in September 2005 with an auction result of GBP 4,560.00 (€ 6,692.13).
