It achieved a price of GBP 2,629.00 (€ 3,912.74), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 31%. Admittedly, works by Frederick James Shields have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Mary Magdalene in June 2010 with an auction result of GBP 22,500.00 (€ 27,362.09).

Die Arbeit Head study of a young girl von Frederick James Shields wurde im Juni 2004 in der Auktion British Art on Paper including Victorian Watercolours from bei Christies in London versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 2.629,00 (€ 3.912,74) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 31%. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Frederick James Shields auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Mary Magdalene im Juni 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 22.500,00 (€ 27.362,09).
