Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Last Winter Light: Reflection on the River in the Mist 28 x 40 in. framed 31 1/2 x 43 1/2 in. by Fred Dalkey was auctioned at Bonhams in Los Angeles in November this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,920.00 (€ 1,760.18). Other works by Fred Dalkey have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in August this year by the work Driving Down 4th Avenue at USD 2,816.00 (€ 2,598.03).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Last Winter Light: Reflection on the River in the Mist 28 x 40 in. framed 31 1/2 x 43 1/2 in. von Fred Dalkey im November diesen Jahres bei Bonhams in Los Angeles versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 1.920,00 (€ 1.760,18) den Besitzer. Andere Arbeiten von Fred Dalkey wurden auch schon teurer gehandelt; den höchsten Preis, den wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachten konnten, erzielte im August diesen Jahres die Arbeit Driving Down 4th Avenue mit USD 2.816,00 (€ 2.598,03).
