Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Still Life With Peaches In A Tazza, Hazelnuts On A Pewter Plate, Raspberries In A Basket, With Pears And A Squirrel On A Table by Frans Snyders was sold in the Important Old Master Paintings Including European Works of Art auction at Sothebys in New York in January 2008. It changed hands for a price of USD 289,000.00 (€ 194,730.81) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 200,000.00 – 300,000.00. Admittedly, works by Frans Snyders have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A larder with a draped table laden with game, a lobster, vegetables and fruit in a basket, and kraak porcelain, with a parrot and two hounds in December 2018 with an auction result of GBP 1,112,750.00 (€ 1,239,702.19).
