Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Frans Snyders could be acquired at Sothebys in London in July 2013 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Old Master & British Paintings Evening Sale auction, the work Still Life With Game, A Lobster And Fruit Laid On A Table, A Parrot And Two Greyhounds changed hands for GBP 134,500.00 (€ 153,689.69) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 150,000.00 – 200,000.00. Admittedly, works by Frans Snyders have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A larder with a draped table laden with game, a lobster, vegetables and fruit in a basket, and kraak porcelain, with a parrot and two hounds in December 2018 with an auction result of GBP 1,112,750.00 (€ 1,239,702.19).
