Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A still life with birds, rabbits and vegetables, with a plate and a tazza with grapes by Frans Snyders was auctioned at Christies in New York in January 2005. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 21,600.00 (€ 16,552.99) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Frans Snyders achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A larder with a draped table laden with game, a lobster, vegetables and fruit in a basket, and kraak porcelain, with a parrot and two hounds in December 2018 with an auction result of GBP 1,112,750.00 (€ 1,239,702.19).
