Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Le Hamac - The Hammock by Frans Smeers was sold in the Pictures, Watercolours and Drawings auction at Christies in Amsterdam in January 2006. The price achieved of EUR 4,560.00 was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as EUR 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Frans Smeers - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Belgian Zomer, which sold at auction in December 2007 for EUR 13,450.00.

Der dabei erzielte Preis von EUR 4.560,00 lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit EUR 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Frans Smeers mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Belgian Zomer beobachtet, die im Dezember 2007 für EUR 13.450,00 versteigert wurde.
