In June 2008 Sothebys in Amsterdam held the auction Modern & Contemporary Art, which included the work Belgian Beach Scene by Frans Smeers. The »bidding war« ended at EUR 11,250.00 61% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Frans Smeers; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Belgian Zomer sold at auction in December 2007 with the realized price of EUR 13,450.00.

Im Juni 2008 führte Sothebys in Amsterdam die Auktion Modern & Contemporary Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Belgian Beach Scene von Frans Smeers zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von EUR 11.250,00 und damit 61% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Frans Smeers; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Belgian Zomer im Dezember 2007 mit dem Hammerpreis von EUR 13.450,00.
