Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Continence of Scipio by Frans Francken II was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in January 2021. The price achieved of USD 22,680.00 (€ 18,689.74) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Frans Francken II achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Diana and her nymphs in a wooded landscape in December 2019 with an auction result of GBP 395,250.00 (€ 467,139.24).
