Auction result well in line with expectations
In January this year Christies in New York held the auction Modern Medici: Masterpieces from a New York Collection, which included the work Death And The Miser by Frans Francken II. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 150,000.00 – 250,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 157,500.00 (€ 145,054.34) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Frans Francken II - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Diana and her nymphs in a wooded landscape, which sold at auction in December 2019 for GBP 395,250.00 (€ 467,139.24).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Januar diesen Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion Modern Medici: Masterpieces from a New York Collection durch, in der auch die Arbeit Death And The Miser von Frans Francken II zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 150.000,00 – 250.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 157.500,00 (€ 145.054,34) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Frans Francken II mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Diana and her nymphs in a wooded landscape beobachtet, die im Dezember 2019 für GBP 395.250,00 (€ 467.139,24) versteigert wurde.
