The work Neptune and Amphitrite |《涅普頓與安菲特里忒》 by Frans Francken II was worth GBP 277,200.00 (€ 309,657.11) to a buyer in December 2020. This price was achieved in the auction Old Masters Evening Sale at Sothebys in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 80,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Frans Francken II; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Diana and her nymphs in a wooded landscape sold at auction in December 2019 with the realized price of GBP 395,250.00 (€ 467,139.24).
