etching, 1552, on laid paper, without watermark, a very good impression of New Hollstein's first state (of three), published by Hieronymus Cock, Antwerp, with his address, trimmed inside the platemark but retaining a fillet of blank paper outside the borderline in most places, the upper left corner skilfully made up, a few minor thin spots, otherwise in good condition

In the Old Master Prints auction, the work Victory surrounded by her Trophies sold for GBP 8,125.00 (€ 9,602.80) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Frans Floris the Elder achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Holy Family With Saint John The Baptist in July 2001 with an auction result of GBP 69,750.00 (€ 113,582.84).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Frans Floris the Elder erzielte im Dezember 2019 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Old Master Prints wurde die Arbeit Victory surrounded by her Trophies für GBP 8.125,00 (€ 9.602,80) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 3.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Frans Floris the Elder erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Holy Family With Saint John The Baptist im Juli 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 69.750,00 (€ 113.582,84).
