Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The Voyage Of King Arthur And Morgan Le Fay To The Isle Of Avalon by Frank William Warwick Topham was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in January 2012, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 15,000.00 – 20,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 11,250.00 (€ 8,618.71). Other works by Frank William Warwick Topham have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in November 2004 by the work A Garden By The Sea at GBP 6,572.50 (€ 9,454.51).
