A top price for Frank Weston Benson - as previously expected
In November 2016 Christies in New York held the auction American Art, which included the work The Reader by Frank Weston Benson. The price achieved of USD 2,887,500.00 (€ 2,729,722.06) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 2,500,000.00 – 3,500,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, The Reader is the most expensive artwork by Frank Weston Benson that we have observed at auctions so far.
