The work 'Fair May, the fairest mayd on ground' by Frank Walton was sold in the BRITISH AND VICTORIAN PICTURES auction at Christies in London in September 2000. The price achieved of GBP 4,112.50 (€ 6,881.47) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, 'Fair May, the fairest mayd on ground' is the most expensive artwork by Frank Walton that we have observed at auctions so far.
