Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Painting Number 2 by Frank Hodgkinson was sold in the Australian, International & Contemporary Paintings Part II auction at Christies in Melbourne in April 2006. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of AUD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, the actual price achieved of AUD 2,151.00 (€ 1,293.77) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Frank Hodgkinson - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Kakadu, Last of the Wet, which sold at auction in August 2003 for AUD 7,050.00 (€ 4,164.80).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Painting Number 2 von Frank Hodgkinson wurde im April 2006 in der Auktion Australian, International & Contemporary Paintings Part II bei Christies in Melbourne versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von AUD 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von AUD 2.151,00 (€ 1.293,77) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Frank Hodgkinson mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Kakadu, Last of the Wet beobachtet, die im August 2003 für AUD 7.050,00 (€ 4.164,80) versteigert wurde.
