This artwork by Frank Earle Schoonover achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in May 2016. In the American Art auction, the work "As the Canoe Swept By..." sold for USD 293,000.00 (€ 263,134.26) - well above the upper estimate of USD 150,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Frank Earle Schoonover; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot As the Canoe Swept By sold at auction in May last year with the realized price of USD 441,000.00 (€ 410,958.90).
