Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2019 Sothebys in London held the auction The Pohl-Ströher Collection of Portrait Miniatures Part II, which included the work Portrait Of Madame Sophie Of France (1734-1782), Circa 1775 by François Dumont. The price achieved of GBP 2,375.00 (€ 2,607.59) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by François Dumont achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Queen Marie-Antoinette (1755-1793), facing right in gold-bordered white satin dress with gold-bordered blue sash, white-bordered pale blue muslin scarf tied in her long curled powdered hair in November 2001 with an auction result of GBP 69,750.00 (€ 110,994.22).
