Upper estimate price exceeded by 46 %.
In December 2018 Sothebys in London held the auction Part I, which included the work Portrait Of A Gentleman by François Dumont. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 8,750.00 (€ 9,748.28), 46% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by François Dumont achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Queen Marie-Antoinette (1755-1793), facing right in gold-bordered white satin dress with gold-bordered blue sash, white-bordered pale blue muslin scarf tied in her long curled powdered hair in November 2001 with an auction result of GBP 69,750.00 (€ 110,994.22).
