A top price for François Clouet
In December 2016 Christies in London held the auction Old Masters Evening Sale, which included the work Portrait of King Charles IX of France (1550-1574) by François Clouet. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 749,000.00 (€ 875,702.52), 25% above the upper estimate. With this result, Portrait of King Charles IX of France (1550-1574) is even the most expensive work of art by François Clouet that we have observed at auctions so far.
