Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by François Clouet could be acquired at Christies in New York in January 2012 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Old Master & Early British Drawings & Watercolors auction, the work Portrait of a boy, possibly Henri de France changed hands for USD 7,500.00 (€ 5,745.81) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 15,000.00 – 25,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by François Clouet achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of King Charles IX of France (1550-1574) in December 2016 with an auction result of GBP 749,000.00 (€ 875,702.52).
