In January 2012 Christies in New York held the auction Old Master & Early British Drawings & Watercolors, which included the work Portrait of King Charles IX (1550-1574) by François Clouet. The »bidding war« ended at USD 16,250.00 (€ 12,449.25), 35% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by François Clouet achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of King Charles IX of France (1550-1574) in December 2016 with an auction result of GBP 749,000.00 (€ 875,702.52).

Im Januar 2012 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Old Master & Early British Drawings & Watercolors durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait of King Charles IX (1550-1574) von François Clouet zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 16.250,00 (€ 12.449,25) und damit 35% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von François Clouet erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait of King Charles IX of France (1550-1574) im Dezember 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 749.000,00 (€ 875.702,52).
