Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2006 Christies in London held the auction British Art on Paper, which included the work Rosamond'S Pond, St James'S Park, With Westminster Abbey In The Distance, London by Francis Wheatley. The price achieved of GBP 11,400.00 (€ 16,929.36) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Francis Wheatley achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Equestrian portrait of Sir Henry Pigot (1750-1840) in December 2000 with an auction result of USD 369,000.00 (€ 393,054.96).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November 2006 führte Christies in London die Auktion British Art on Paper durch, in der auch die Arbeit Rosamond'S Pond, St James'S Park, With Westminster Abbey In The Distance, London von Francis Wheatley zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 11.400,00 (€ 16.929,36) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Francis Wheatley erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Equestrian portrait of Sir Henry Pigot (1750-1840) im Dezember 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 369.000,00 (€ 393.054,96).
