Auction result well in line with expectations
The work An English frigate coming into harbour by Francis Swaine was sold in the The Marine Sale auction at Bonhams in London in April last year. The price achieved of GBP 1,020.00 (€ 1,216.31) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Francis Swaine achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work An English Squadron In St Aubin'S Bay, Jersey in December 2006 with an auction result of GBP 28,800.00 (€ 42,742.81).
