Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Morning on the Banks of Lake Zurich, with Pilgrims Embarking on their way to Einsiedeln Abbey by Francis Danby was sold in the Old Master Paintings & Sculpture Online auction at Christies in London in December 2020. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 11,250.00 (€ 12,567.25) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Francis Danby achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A view of the Avon at Clifton, Bristol in July 2014 with an auction result of GBP 110,500.00 (€ 139,375.24).

Die Arbeit Morning on the Banks of Lake Zurich, with Pilgrims Embarking on their way to Einsiedeln Abbey von Francis Danby wurde im Dezember 2020 in der Auktion Old Master Paintings & Sculpture Online bei Christies in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 11.250,00 (€ 12.567,25) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Francis Danby erzielen.
