Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2016 Christies in London held the auction Old Master & British Drawings, which included the work A wooded landscape at sunset by Francis Danby. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 11,250.00 (€ 13,367.43) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Francis Danby achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A view of the Avon at Clifton, Bristol in July 2014 with an auction result of GBP 110,500.00 (€ 139,375.24).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juli 2016 führte Christies in London die Auktion Old Master & British Drawings durch, in der auch die Arbeit A wooded landscape at sunset von Francis Danby zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 11.250,00 (€ 13.367,43) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Francis Danby erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A view of the Avon at Clifton, Bristol im Juli 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 110.500,00 (€ 139.375,24).
