Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A panoramic view towards Star Cross and Powderham from near the Globe Inn, Exmouth by Francis Danby was auctioned at Christies in London in July 2012. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,062.50 (€ 1,353.34) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Francis Danby achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A view of the Avon at Clifton, Bristol in July 2014 with an auction result of GBP 110,500.00 (€ 139,375.24).
