This artwork by Francesco Ubertini achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in December 2015. In the Old Master & British Paintings Evening Sale auction, the work The Baptism Of Christ sold for GBP 365,000.00 (€ 495,652.45) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 200,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Francesco Ubertini; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot The Madonna and Child with Saint John the Baptist seated among rocks, a village beyond with shepherds sold at auction in December 2000 with the realized price of GBP 432,750.00 (€ 689,366.88).
