Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Francesco Simonini could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in January 2013 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Property from the Estate of Giancarlo Baroni auction, the work Soldiers Crossing A River changed hands for USD 64,900.00 (€ 47,776.80) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 80,000.00 – 120,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Francesco Simonini - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work An extensive mountainous landscape with a battle scene, which sold at auction in July 2014 for GBP 92,500.00 (€ 116,671.58).
