Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Portrait Of A Lady, Bust Length, With Flowers On Her Hair by Francesco Cairo was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in October 2018, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 5,000.00 (€ 4,412.28). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Francesco Cairo achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Le Départ du fils prodigue in March 2015 with an auction result of EUR 409,500.00.
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Portrait Of A Lady, Bust Length, With Flowers On Her Hair von Francesco Cairo im Oktober 2018 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 5.000,00 (€ 4.412,28) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Francesco Cairo erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Le Départ du fils prodigue im März 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 409.500,00.
