Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Francesco Battaglioli could be acquired at Sothebys in London in December 2011 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Old Master and British Paintings Day Sale auction, the work A Capriccio View Of A Walled Town With Elegant Figures On The River changed hands for GBP 18,750.00 (€ 22,455.77) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Francesco Battaglioli - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A capriccio of a neoclassical loggia on the embankment of a canal, the buildings of a town and a mountainous landscape beyond, which sold at auction in July 2008 for GBP 67,250.00 (€ 85,441.88).
