A top price for Francesco Ballesio
In May 2008 Sothebys in London held the auction European Paintings including German, Austrian & Central European Paintings and The Orientalist Sale, which included the work Italian Odalisque by Francesco Ballesio. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 24,500.00 (€ 31,165.07), 36% above the upper estimate. With this result, Italian Odalisque is even the most expensive work of art by Francesco Ballesio that we have observed at auctions so far.
