In January 2010 Christies in New York held the auction Old Master & 19th Century Paintings, Drawings, & Watercolors, which included the work Christ on the Cross by Filippino Lippi. The »bidding war« ended at USD 122,500.00 (€ 88,320.12), 53% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Filippino Lippi achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Penitent Mary Magdalen adoring the True Cross in a rocky landscape in January 2005 with an auction result of USD 2,256,000.00 (€ 1,728,868.11).

Im Januar 2010 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Old Master & 19th Century Paintings, Drawings, & Watercolors durch, in der auch die Arbeit Christ on the Cross von Filippino Lippi zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 122.500,00 (€ 88.320,12) und damit 53% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Filippino Lippi erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Penitent Mary Magdalen adoring the True Cross in a rocky landscape im Januar 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 2.256.000,00 (€ 1.728.868,11).
